A good-looking beard comes from consistency, not complicated products. This routine takes about five minutes and works for almost any length.
1. Wash (2–3 times a week)
Use a beard wash instead of regular shampoo. Regular shampoo can strip the natural oils your beard needs. On the other days, a rinse with warm water is enough.
2. Pat Dry
Pat your beard dry with a towel instead of rubbing it. Rubbing causes frizz and split ends. Leave it slightly damp for the next step.
3. Oil
Put a few drops of beard oil in your palms, rub them together, and work it in from the roots to the tips. Make sure it reaches the skin underneath.
4. Brush or Comb
Use a boar bristle brush for short beards or a wide-tooth comb for longer ones. Brush down and out to spread the oil, clear tangles and train the hair to grow the way you want.
5. Shape
For longer beards, finish with a little balm to hold the shape and tame flyaways. Then check your neckline and cheek line in the mirror for strays.
Weekly Extras
- Trim: clean up the neckline and mustache every 1–2 weeks.
- Deep condition: once a week, leave a beard conditioner in for a few minutes before rinsing.
Make It a Habit
Keep your beard kit next to your toothbrush. If you see it every morning, you’ll use it every morning.
